Keyword: dyed, easter, eggs, natural

  • 6 red onion skins
  • water
  • 1/8 cup vinegar
  • 1/2 dozen eggs - I used brown and white
  • a selection botanicals - leaves, stems, petals, flower heads
  • 1 pair old nylons

  • Choose a selection of pretty botanicals from the garden or out on a walk.
  • Dip the eggs into some water and stick individual leaves, flower heads and petals onto each egg
  • Take the old nylons and wrap around each egg tying both ends with a knot to secure
  • Peel the onions and place the skins in a large pot.
  • Cover with water and a good glug of vinegar and boil
  • Add the eggs and leave to bubble gently for 30 minutes
  • Allow to cool before removing the nylon and leaves to reveal the beautiful patina beneath
  • If you plan to eat these keep refrigerated until serving
