The mornings I spend with this girl are often slow and sleepy. If it’s cold like it was today, we tend to hang out at home. She follows me round the house, my shadow, pulling at my jeans and asking for “bubbles” (cuddles) every so often.
Whilst I get myself ready she’ll often play with my makeup and tickle her cheeks with my blusher brush, giggling. I cherish these mornings of nothing-in-particularness as much as the days we head out with somewhere to go. Home is where the heart is, and giving into snuggles with her in my bed can be liberating and as satisfying as ticking everything off my to do list with her in tow.
The other morning, the sun was shining and we headed out in search of blooms. We found camelias nestling amongst the bushes, their fallen petals scattered like pink snowflakes across the ground. We collected some of the fallen flowers to take home for a bedside posey. There’s nothing sweeter than the unexpected surprises mother nature has in store for us, like that posey, and the smile that spread across my face each morning this week as I woke to see it.
These pictures from this morning are some of my favourites yet. I’m not sure what makes a favourite for me, I just know I feel it as soon as I see it. images like these pull at my heart, I guess they truly reflect what life is like with this little one. She’s always on the move, often rolling around on the floor or a bed, so curious about the birds and squirrels in the trees in the park opposite our house, with one hand in my purse and the other smearing raspberry lip salve onto her cheeks. She has my heart.
Elsie is wearing a favourite handmade gingham romper suit created by the wonderful Sophie Cummings of Sophie & Co Shop It’s made from soft cotton and fits like a dream. I love the low slung hareem pants and the fact it’s so playful. I already have my eye on a linen version for summer!
