You may not believe this now, but once upon a time this girl loved to play dress up. My perfect Sunday afternoon would be spent snuggled up on the sofa reading fashion magazines. I adored nothing more than treating myself to a new item of clothing on payday. I wasn’t an irresponsible shopper though. I chose items carefully, thinking about what would go with what and was a pro at seeking out affordable high street pieces from Zara and Topshop. All this went out the window however when I fell pregnant with Rafferty.
I have shamelessly lived in and alternated between one black and one blue pair of maternity jeans for 9 months now. I bought them both just before I was 11 weeks pregnant and they became my bump uniform in a bid to feel comfy and save money. This shopping abstinence was deliberate as it meant I would be able to put aside a little money each month for when my post baby body materialised.
Well I finally hit boiling point when I put my blue maternity jeans on for the hundredth time this Monday morning and looked in the mirror. The mirror didn’t lie, they did absolutely nothing for me… and it was clearly time to move on. I am hoping to shed more baby weight of course but I needed to bridge the gap between the pregnant me and the future me somehow to give my self esteem a boost and put a spring in my step.
So, off to Zara Rafferty and I trotted and found 2 lovely pairs of jeans that fitted perfectly. No more elasticated waistband to encourage biscuits at elevensies, I am officially no longer pregnant people. Hoorar!
I also picked up a fabulous cream crochet lace skirt for a steal, a lightweight trench to replace the one I’ve had for 3 years which is now covered in stains, and some summer sandals to replace my old faithfuls that I literally wore to death… well until the strap broke.
Here is my new spring post baby wardrobe updates. I feel like a new woman… Hope you like!
