August. That seems so long ago to me now as we approach bonfire night and the crazy run up to Christmas. And as I’ve been pulling together a rather belated collection of images that capture our month of August, I’ve been taken back to the summer holidays; warm days playing on beaches with my children, the sun on our skin and a beachful of sand in their hair.
We had two little seaside breaks away, a week at my parent’s cottage and a week in Devon. There were cheese roll picnics and fish and chip teas, there were tiny crabs in rock pools, visits to pretty villages, curious antique shops, hot coffee in dressing gowns and two sets of grubby feet pitter pattering about the garden.
It felt good to rest from the hustle and bustle of work and school and London. And right at the end of the month I had my 36th birthday. I celebrated this year by having some family pictures taken by my friend Posy who was travelling in Europe for the summer. The photographs she sent me a couple of weeks ago are precious to me beyond words, if you’re in Portland look her up now! It was quite something to see us together through her eyes, the calm, the chaos of family life.
And just like that, September creeped closer, we swapped the beach for the city and I was ironing school uniforms and packing lunch boxes once more.
Here’s my month in pictures…
Beautiful pictures!
