I love coming up with simple craft activities to do with the children in the afternoon when baby bird has woken from her nap and the big kiddo is back from nursery. I remember tracing leaves as a child, watching the leaf shape appear as you scribbled with crayon as if by magic.
For this activity you will need:
- A handful of pretty autumn leaves (although you can do this at any time of year this is the perfect season to celebrate the beauty in leaves
- Some wax crayons – big chubby ones work well
- Some paper – we love Ikea’s art roll as it’s super dooper value and tough for heavy handed kiddos
- Kid safe scissors
Simply arrange the leaves under the paper and draw over them with different coloured crayons.
When finished you can display the artwork as it is or cut out the shapes of the leaves. You could make a mobile from the leaf cuttings or simply stick them on your child’s bedroom wall with wasahi tape.
