Week 42, eeeep!! Only 10 more weeks of 2015 and the final push for The 52 Project. I’m feeling grateful I decided to stick with it for another year. It’s been a bit of a gift for me as a photographer – to be disciplined to capture us each week, and more often than not, in simply observing the everyday rather than catching the big moments.
I’m really passionate about documentary family photography and preserving the most ordinary of moments in photos. Probably because childhood is so fleeting and it’s so easy to forget the little things that pepper our year. I also love that shooting in this way encourages me to see beauty in the mundane and appreciate what is right before my eyes and all to easy to pass by otherwise.
I often sit in our old armchair and flip through the little book I made using last year’s 52 Project pictures. I love to look back, to watch as the children change so much in one little space, to remind myself of the sweetness of motherhood, with little ones just being little. I’m keen to keep it up in 2016 and introduce a couple other new personal projects to keep my creativity flowing and to try to push myself to see things with fresh eyes.
So here it is, week 42… The boy doing what boys do best, and the girl and her ten, tiny, curled toes. Let me never forget how small these feet were, or how soft the soles…
