And just like that, my little boy turned six. The past couple of months he’s outgrown a long, awkward stage and really come into his own. He seems contented, brighter, and more adaptable. It’s lovely to watch and, to be honest, it’s a relief things are starting to feel easier. On the morning of his birthday he requested pancakes with chocolate spread for breakfast and then played with his new lego set in his jammers at the kitchen table as the morning sun crept up in the sky. We went on a bike ride, had my sister and his baby cousin over for some lunch and then a couple of his friends joined us for some birthday tea and cake. It was about as sweet and simple as birthdays get. When I tucked him up in bed that night his eyes filled with tears and he said “these are happy tears mummy, I’ve had the best day”.
Happy happy sixth to my beautiful, kind and sensitive little boy. We love you so xoxox
